Sixers Center Joel Embiid has been the mockery of social media as of late for his unorthodox free throw routine.
In the video below, Embiid is seen digging in his backside, then sniffing his fingers before attempting a free throw. It is unclear whether he’s picking a wedgie or if he’s genuinely interested with the aroma of his rear end, but at the end of the day… he made the free throw.
NBA Legend Shaquille O’Neal hosted comedian Chico Bean on The Big Podcast with Shaq, where he shared his opinion of Embiid’s free throw routine
“He gotta hit himself in the [butt] to make free throws?” Bean jokingly questioned. “I ain’t never seen nobody free throw process that f***** up…. aye man, don’t foul Joel Embiid no more.”

Embiid has been ruled out by team officials for the remainder of the 2024-2025 season due to “ongoing issues with his left knee.”
According to NBA.com, Embiid concluded a series of tests on his knee earlier this week, with the final determination listing him medically unable to play. The 76ers say they are working with medical experts to determine an exact treatment plan.
