Embiid Allegedly Shoves Reporter in Locker Room Over Comments Made About Late Brother

Philadelphia Sixers Star Joel Embiid was at the center of an altercation involving a reporter Saturday night. After the Sixers suffered a  124-107 loss to the Memphis Grizzlies on Saturday night, Embiid was seen shouting at Philadelphia Inquirer columnist Marcus Hayes, in a heated exchange of words before eventually shoving him.
Hayes wrote a column questioning Embiid’s professionalism and effort to stay in shape.

“Embiid, who has missed the first four games and will miss at least one more, on Saturday, claimed that the Sixers knew all along that he might not be ready for Game 1. According to Sixers sources, that is simply untrue.” Hayes wrote. “Shame on him for not taking fuller responsibility for his actions, and his inaction.”.
According to Embiid, Hayes also made mention to Embiid’s son and late brother — both named Arthur — in which Embiid took extreme offense to. As reporters entered the locker room to talk to players after the Sixers loss, The Former MVP walked up to Hayes and confront him about the piece that he had written.
“The next time you bring up my dead brother and my son again, you are going to see what I’m going to do to you and I’m going to have to … live with the consequences,” Embiid said to Hayes.

Embiid continued his verbal threats with several instances of profanity. Hayes offered an apology, in which Embiid rejected due to his believed insincerity of Hayes. “That’s not the f—ing first time,” Embiid declared.
According to ESPN, this issue is being investigate by NBA authorities and appropriate actions will be taken.
“We are aware of reports of an incident in the Sixers locker room this evening and are commencing an investigation,” an NBA spokesman said in a statement.
